How do you find the truth behind today's breaking news?
Dear Friend,
As the world tries to make sense of today's news of the capture and death of Muammar Gaddafi in Libya, it is difficult to find the truth among the competing narratives. The situation in Libya is extremely complex and without a direct connection to the people living in the country, it is nearly impossible to know the reality.
For me, today's breaking news is a reminder of how critical TransAfrica's method and work truly are. By making meaningful connections with people in all the countries where we work, we are able to amplify the voices of those most affected by U.S. foreign policy. In addition, we can bring their points of view to a broader audience when the headlines are hard to interpret.
DONATE NOW
It is imperative for people of African descent throughout the world to be able to tell their own stories. TransAfrica needs your help today so we can keep bringing you the vital perspectives of the people living the reality of U.S. policies around the world.
TransAfrica is working hard to keep you connected to struggles of people throughout the world because we believe as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, that
An injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere.
Can you make a donation to TransAfrica today? If we can't understand the lives of people in Colombia, South Africa, Uganda or Brazil through their own words and stories, how can we support them?
If we believe that our freedom is wrapped up in the freedom of everyone, we know we can't really speak on behalf of others. Instead, TransAfrica fights to make information a two way street. We hold the microphone for the people living in Haiti, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe to speak for themselves, and we make sure they have access to information that is often unavailable to the most marginalized and vulnerable people in societies around the world.
Every day and every week, new headlines dominate our televisions and computers, and like today's breaking news from Libya, it can be hard to determine the reality through the lens of the social and mainstream media . If you want to know what is really happening on the ground in the countries of Africa and the places where the descendants of Africa now live, you can count on TransAfrica to give you a balanced perspective based on authentic relationships with those communities.
Please don't wait until tomorrow, make a donation of $50, $100, or $500 today, and remember that a gift of any size will make a difference. You can also make a monthly pledge to help sustain our work throughout the year. We need your support today so that we can keep bringing you the stories that help you sift through the competing reports in the news to get to the truth behind the headlines.
Holding the microphone and getting the message to you,

Nicole Lee, President
TransAfrica
